Under the direction of Norman Schulman, M.D., Radiation Medicine Specialists of Northeast PA opened its doors in June 1999 in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania. The facility offers state-of-the-art cancer treatment including three dimensional radiation therapy planning, diagnostic spiral CT scanning, stereotactic radiosurgery, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and image guided radio-therapy. Dr. Schulman offers his patients more than 30 years of skill and experience in the fight against cancer. With advanced treatments and therapies once only available in large metropolitan hospitals, Radiation Medicine Specialists brings unmatched technology and ease of access to the people of Northeast Pennsylvania. Radiation Medicine Specialists uses many new modalities to bring state of the art radiation treatments to patients with cancer. In order to plan for treatment we use image fusion or co-registration of PET, CT and MRI images. Next, the intensity modulation, or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), is used for targeting tumors with less radiation to normal structures. Image guided radiation therapy and organ motion compensation with daily BAT ultrasound and respiratory gating are yet other forms of treatments we offer.
