The Radiation Oncology Practice at the Radiation Medicine Specialists of Northeast Pennsylvania, Forty Fort, Pennsylvania has been awarded a full three year accreditation by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). This is the result of a professional practice evaluation conducted by the American College of Radiation Oncology. The American College of Radiation Oncology is an organization that serves Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Physicists and professional practice administrators. The mission of The College is to promote the science of Radiation Oncology, improve oncologic services to patients, study the socioeconomic aspects of the practice of Radiation Oncology and encourage continuing education in Radiation Oncology and its allied professional fields.
The objective of the ACRO Practice Accreditation review is to ascertain that the equipment, staff, policies, procedures and treatment programs of the Radiation Oncology practice meet accepted standards of modern day radiation therapy delivered in the U.S. The survey and data analysis are conducted by board certified Radiation Oncologists and Radiation Physicists active in ACRO's Practice Accreditation Program. Each professional practice is examined for quality and efficiency of patient care, as well as, appropriateness of radiation therapy equipment, professional performance and staffing levels. The reviewers report their findings to the ACRO for final approval and accreditation.
The ACRO Practice Accreditation Program found the Radiation Oncology Practice at Radiation Medicine Specialists of Northeast Pennsylvania to be in compliance with accepted standards of professional practice in radiation oncology. A certificate documenting ACRO Practice Accreditation will be presented to Dr. Norman Schulman, Medical Director of the Radiation Oncology Practice at the Radiation Medicine Specialists of Northeast Pennsylvania.
