COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
While searching for the best radiation treatment center, you will want a group of organized specialists, who are not only well rounded with patient affairs, but whom also are pro-active within the community in which they live. At Radiation Medicine Specialists, we are that team of individuals who help bring healing to our patients as well as our surrounding communities. We are co-sponsors with The Citizens Voice annual National Cancer Survivor Day picnic, Daffodil Days, Buddy Check, and the Back Mountain Relay for Life.

National Cancer Survivors Day is held annually in hundreds of communities throughout the world on the first Sunday in June. It is a symbolic event to demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. On this day we pause to celebrate the lives of  all people around the world who are living with a history of cancer, and focus attention on the issues of survivorship. It is also a time to acknowledge those professionals dedicated to cancer treatment, research and support services. A "survivor" is anyone living with a history of cancer... from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life!
Radiation Medicine Specialists of NEPA is a proud co-sponsor of the NationalCancer Survivors Day Picnic.

BUDDY CHECK: Uniting Women...Saving Lives!
The goal of Buddy Check is to educate women about breast cancer and encourage them to take control of their lives, being as aggressive with the disease as it is with its victims.

The key to beating breast cancer is early detection. The key to early detection is self-examination. Buddy Check brings women together with friends or family members. They pledge to call and remind one another once a month - on the 28th - to do a self-examination.

Daffodil Days!
One of the first flowers of spring, the daffodil is a symbol of hope. To the American Cancer Society, the flower represents the hope of a world free from cancer.
Now you can share this hope with others. The American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days are a great way to let friends, family, and other special people in your life know you're thinking of them. You can honor someone special, brighten the day of someone touched by the disease, and help make our mission possible—all at the same time!

LOOK GOOD...FEEL BETTER is a free workshop facilitated by trained cosmetologists who teach women with cancer how to understand and care for changes in skin and hair that may occur during treatment. The monthly program is offered in partnership with the National Cosmetology Association and the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation.
